Zion bought a ticket for me last Thursday, and I have been working since then (and a little before) on the kids Activities Schedule!! I'm the 'Kids Activities Director',(or something like that...) meaning I have to plan all the games to entertain all the kids ages 4-12 at camp for an hour each day.
Ages 4&5
Day 1: Relay Races Day 2: Olympics Day 3: Sidewalk Games
Ages 6-8
Day 1: Soccer Day 2: Scavenger Hunt Day 3: Relay Races
Ages 9-12
Day 1: Kickball Day 2: Soccer Day 3: Scavenger Hunt
Relay Race Ideas
(Divide into two teams to start)
*Balloon Popping Race*
>Have the kids run from point A to a chair (point b) place a balloon on the chair for them to sit on, they must pop the balloon then run back to point A before the next child takes a turn. (You might have to help some of the smaller children pop their balloons…)
*Marshmallow Spoon Race*
>Use a cone to represent a start/finish line, then have one child from each team run to another cone carrying a spoon while balancing the marshmallow on it. Winner is the first team to finish.
*Clothes Relay Race*
>Place two boxes with equal number of articles of clothing on one end of the play area. The first child runs from point A to the box, chooses one article of clothing and puts it on. The runner then runs back to the next person in line and the next person puts on that item, then goes to back to the box and adds an item to his ensemble, this continues until all items are out of the box or time is up. (You might have to do this one several times so that each child gets a chance.)
*Potato Sack Races*
>This is pretty self explanatory, if you don’t know what this is, you need to move out of the cave you’ve clearly been living in. =) haha thanks for all your help!!!
*3-legged Races*
*Hula Hoop Rolling*
>Have each child take a turn running from point A to point B while rolling a hula hoop. If they lose control of the hoop, they have to go back to the point where they lost it. First team to have all the kids done running wins.
*Run Full Out Race*
*Hopping Race*
*Skipping Race*
*Running Backwards Race*
This one’s not really a race, but a fun thing to do that I think all the kids will love….
*Marshmallow Tree*
>Kids must eat as much of the marshmallow as they can without it falling off the string that it is attached to, without using their hands. Whoever gets their marshmallow the smallest without it falling is the winner.
On the Scavenger Hunt Days, there will also be a water balloon toss/ fight.
The 4&5 year olds 'Olympic Day' will basically consist of:
*Hula Hoops*
Have kids jump through them…
Have the kids roll them in a race…
Have the kids throw balls or beanbags through them…
Have the kids skip through them while they are lying on the ground like Olympic rings...
*Jump Ropes*
Have the kids jump rope…
Hold some at different heights and have kids go over and under them…
Lay them in crazy figures on the ground and have kids race in crazy figures…
*Bean Bags*
Who tosses the furthest?
*Cones*
Kick ball through cones…
Lay cones in figure and have kids kick ball around it…
*Kick Ball*
Who can kick the furthest?
and their 'Sidewalk Day' will have stations:
Station #1) Have the kids draw any pictures they want to using sidewalk chalk...
Station #2) Using sidewalk chalk, cones and kickball- Make a 4-square game and let the kids play that…
Station #3) Using sidewalk chalk and small rock- Make a couple hopscotch games and let kids play that...
Station #4) Using sidewalk chalk- Make a 4-square with a circle in the middle and have the middle kid try to take one of the other kids squares as they all move around the boxes…
Kickball and Soccer are pretty self explanatory. =)

There ya go Jess and John. (John's the "Activities Director", and I have to report directly to him!) Since I couldn't get this stuff to email correctly... I improvised!! =) Plus, now maybe I'll get some more ideas!!!!
I got the email, but I haven't tried to open the zip attachment yet; too busy. I tried to forward it to Jess, since she's the one going to all the meetings, but it got sent back (not sure why).
Zion said maybe Jess' computer wouldn't accept zipped files, so he emailed it to her again as a jpg, but to open it up, she'll have to change the file type back to .zip. I'm not sure if she'll know how to do that, so I posted it on here. =)
I figured it wouldn't hurt anything, and who knows, it might actually help!
I can't wait until camp! It's going to be so great having the activities this organised! You did a Snap Dog Job Shan!
Looks like you have it under control there, Shan!! Sounds like the kids will have a great time! You've come up with some really good ideas; so good in fact, I'm fresh out of any to give you! ;)
Thank you... (bows)... but seriously, if anyone has any suggestions... we always need extra ideas because some of the kids get bored so easily that we really have to keep them hopping!!
