Happy 7th Birthday to the best niece a girl could get!!!!

I will never forget the day you were born, I was working as a waitress at Ponderosa Steakhouse and I was trying my best to get my work done. I was so excited because I knew that my big sister was at the hospital to have her baby. They finally just let me go home because I kept dropping stuff and telling all the customers that, "I'm going to be an aunt today... I might even be one already!!" (If only I had known then that I was going to go sit at the hospital for 6 or so hours before you would finally make your appearance at 8:15.... I might have calmed down enough to stay at work!!!!)

When you were finally here, Grandma and I were out in the hallway listening to you cry, waiting for our first glimpse of you. After about an hour of standing in the hall hearing you, your Aunt Jeannie came out of the room you were in with a video camera so we could at least see your picture.

FINALLY, about 15 minutes later, they let you and your Mommy and Daddy come out, and we all got to meet you. (Grandma, Papa, Uncle Justin, Uncle Heepie, Nanny, and Uncle Zion... I think Becka Y. was there, too!)

The next day, I was really excited about you being right there in the hospital, and I actually woke up at like 6:00 a.m., got ready and drove the the hospital to see you before I had to go to work. (I didn't have to be to work until 11:00!) Just hearing about me getting up that early without actually having to, should really tell you something about how much I love you. =) I am very proud to be your aunt, Ness. I love you so much!! It has been awesome watching you grow up so far!!

Heepie is just baby talk for Heep. He is nicknamed Heep for Uriah Heep the rock band, which was called that for the horrible character in David Copperfield. My brother-in-law gave him that nick name as soon as he heard his name was Jariah. Then my sister's whole family started calling him that and pretty soon we all did too.

He couldn't pronounce Holsappple when he was two or three and we had him so confused that when we would ask him his name he would say "Heepie Bapple."
He's been Heepie Bapple ever since. :)

Jariah has never been a hippie, or, as you Hispanics would have it, Heepie. He was born a little too late for that movement. His father and I were born a little too late for that movement!

How old is Uncle Ted?

Hey, no Uncle Ted bashing!!! He is one of the most caring and giving men I have been priviledged to know!! Not perfect,(but then, who is??!)but definately someone who lives his life for others! That says alot in this day of such me-first attitudes.

I'm not bashing, there's nothing wrong with being a heepie!!

"Israel, ___ knows about this blog too."

OOOOPS DELETE, JESHANAH DELETE!!!

He also used to play Basketball for the U of A too which was pretty cool, until he blew out his knee.

Are you like me and everytime you listen to "Unshackled" you just like to hear all the bad parts and then when they get saved you're like "Awwwwww Man!! Now the rest of the story is going to be boring!!"

Unshackled... Nah nah nah nah nah na na na naaaaaah!

Sharla said...

No Israel,
I for one am not like that about UNSHACKLED. Being a Christian is NOT boring! It's like Bro. Branham said, you don't join some picnic... the battles get really intense and the "highs" are higher than any drug induced ones.

You have GOT to see our church service from yesterday now! Our young people just got back from Louisiana so they were giving their testimonies of their trip. We do that every year and every year is wonderful, but this year beat anything I ever heard of!
I'll send it to you, you watch that and then tell me if you think these guys are bored! And tell me if you think watching it is boring.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I never get sleepy or daydream during some sermons, that is a big part of the enemy's job. He wants to keeps us used to being entertained about 24/7 so that we all find a slow paced sermon incredibly boring. But then there will come a time when he attacks and you might wish you'd been paying attention so you know how to defeat him and what it is all about! But anyway, I'll send you yesterday's service and I promise you won't be bored with the young people's testimonies! :)

I thought some more about what you said, and tried to remembere clear back to when I was your age. I remember thinking Spoken Words were so boring and reading one was like pulling teeth. I felt like I SHOULD read them, but it was a chore.
I gave my heart to the Lord when I was nine and got baptised. But that didn't stop me from wanting to dress and act like all my friends when I was twelve. My dad died when I was 13 and that drew me a bit closer to my heavenly Father. I stopped wearing shorts and pants at that time but by the time I was much older I was wearing skirts with some MAJOR slits and taking a "social" drink after work with my friends. I believed the Message was true and even thought I was living it for the most part. Then at around 30 I actaullly died at the alter and the Lord was gracious enough to me to let me have an actaul rebirth experience. That is when a real change came in my life as far as my desires. I actually WANTED to be in church 3 times a week and read my Bible and message books every day. And for the most part, I did and still do. But I am still in this flesh and sometimes it is still a battle.
However, as soon as I was diagnosed in 2001 with an incurable cancer, it was much easier to never miss a service and the Spoken Words suddenly became like candy to me. I just devoured them and couldn't get enough. I would read one right after the other and didn't want to put them down. Decorating magazines,(my favorite) held no appeal for me. Who cared about some stupid decorating style! I was either 1. Soon to be going to heaven and I wanted to find out all about where I would soon be, or 2. Going to be healed and I wanted to know what I needed to do in order to have that happen.
Nothing about the message or God's word was "boring" at that time.
but now, years after the Lord Jesus Christ healed me, I am pulled to watch a decorating show or pick up a Traditionsl Home instead of putting on a tape or reading the message. I am much more balanced than before I was sick, but I admit I am still often lazy and just want to be entertained.

Not saying being a Christian is boring or testimonies are boring, I just think the stories about how someone used to be a Hell's Angel or a Mob Hitman or Bank Robber are a lot more interesting before the main protagonist turns into Mr. Goodie-two-shoes.

That's why no one ever makes any movies about some guy or girl who just goes to church every day because they would be a snooze fest.

I do love the part where the music goes "Nah nah nah nah nah na na na naaaaaah!" Very dramatic!!

Hey were are these worthless Blog Monitors when you want them to delete something, huh?

Israel said...

And then I wore a skirt with a MAJOR Slits!

Nah nah nah nah nah na na na naaaaaah!

MAJOR SLITS????

Nah nah nah nah nah na na na naaaaaah!

And I thought I had a wild past... :)

ROFL once again, Israel

Your'e right about the Unshackled organ music, it keeps ya right there on the edge of your seat doesn't it!
I couldn't figure out all the nah nahs there for a minute, I was kinda thinking, Nah Nah Nah na, Nah Nah Nah na, HEy He-ey, all-ll right. Which of course didn't make any sense.
Are you sure that organ music isn't really hmm hmmhmm, etc.??

Israel said...

You say "hmm," I say "Naa," either way, that organ music is awesome...
