I suppose I should be grateful....

Bill has been giving me a couple more days a week since I told him that Zion lost his job. He had cut my hours down to 2 or 3 days a week over the past couple months, then in more recent weeks I was only getting 1 or maybe 2 days. Since I told him about Zion's lack of a job he's been scheduling me for 3 days again. The only problem with this is that it's getting harder and harder to make myself get up at 5 a.m. and when I do, I generally feel ill most of the day. I am (like most preggos in the 3rd trimester) not sleeping all that well lately so getting up that early is especially painful. =)

I'm feeling particularly sick this morning, headache, nausea, can't breathe properly and a myriad of other cold/flu like symptoms.... plus stress despite everyone's warnings that I don't need to stress. (I don't really know how I'm not supposed to stress.... but whatever!) I dunno... I guess life goes on.

Did not Israel assert I would never say such terrible things about a white person? I believe such an easily falsifiable statement is probably slander. Now all I need is a good lawyer ... (insert your own lawyer joke here)

The only way I actually keep myself entertained to to try to think up clever new ways to insult you guys.

Unfortunately your failing, as so far you have simply repeated the same arguments and insults that Democrats have been spewing for years...

If Tommy hadn't spotted my typos, he wouldn't have had the cojones to jump in and attack with his brilliant "predictable paradigm" argument.

Yo tengo los cojones necesarios para atacar cada vez que veo o escucho a alguien trantando de usar un argumento que no hace sentido...

And for the record...I resent being lumped in with the Republican Party. I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Republican. I typically gather information through conversation, reading books, newspapers, and websites(predominantly cnn.com, foxnews.com, the New York Times website, abcnews.com), and studying candidates speeches and writings and voting records. Once I gather the information, I decide which viewpoint seems most logical.
Anyway, the time for arguments is over, it is time to vote. I'm still predicting an Obama victory, but I would love to be wrong on this one.

I can't be racist PMB cuz I'm every race rolled up in one big delicious burrito.

And nice move cultivating a token "black" friend as cover.

You probably learned that trick from all those Gay Republican elected officials (Like Jim Kolbe) who keep wives as cover.

Although a guy who probably spends his life putting black people in jail is suspect. Couldn't you pick a black "friend" whose life's work doesn't consist of putting his brothers in shackles?

And I had lots and lots of White people in my wedding (not just one token white person) does that mean I can't be racist?

---

Oh yeah BTW PMB, the Catholic Church isn't anyone's actual mom, but Obama had an actual mother.
And Obama's grandmother just died, you want to defame her too?

You know you should be ashamed of yourself, so go back and hide your face in shame....

Maybe it was PMB's Blog post that did it...

HONOLULU – Barack Obama's grandmother, whose personality and bearing shaped much of the life of the Democratic presidential contender, has died, Obama announced Monday, one day before the election. Madelyn Payne Dunham was 86.

Obama announced the news from the campaign trail in Charlotte, N.C. The joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng said Dunham died late Sunday at her Honolulu apartment after a battle with cancer.

"She's gone home," Obama said as tens of thousands of rowdy supporters at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte grew silent in an evening drizzle.

"And she died peacefully in her sleep with my sister at her side. And so there is great joy as well as tears. I'm not going to talk about it too long because it is hard for me to talk about."

But he said he wanted people to know a little about her — that she lived through the Great Depression and World War II, working the latter on a bomber assembly line with a baby at home and a husband serving his country. He said she was humble and plain spoken, one of the "quiet heroes that we have all across America" working hard and hoping to see their children and grandchildren thrive.

Obama learned of Dunham's death Monday morning while he was campaigning in Jacksonville, Fla. The family said a private ceremony would be held later.

"So many of us were hoping and praying that his grandmother would have the opportunity to witness her grandson become our next president," said Hawaii state Rep. Marcus Oshiro, an Obama supporter. "What a bittersweet victory it will be for him."

Republican John McCain issued condolences. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to them as they remember and celebrate the life of someone who had such a profound impact in their lives," the statement by John and Cindy McCain said.

Last month, Obama took a break from campaigning and flew to Hawaii to be with Dunham as her health declined. He told CBS that he "got there too late" when his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1995 at age 53 and wanted to avoid that mistake again.

Outside the apartment building where Dunham died, reporters and TV cameras lined the sidewalk as two police officers were posted near the elevator. Signs hanging in the apartment lobby warned the public to keep out.

The Kansas-born Dunham and her husband, Stanley, raised their grandson for several years in Honolulu while their daughter and her second husband lived overseas. Her influence on Obama's manner and the way he viewed the world was substantial, the candidate told millions watching him accept his party's nomination in Denver in August.

"She's the one who taught me about hard work," he said. "She's the one who put off buying a new car or a new dress for herself so that I could have a better life. She poured everything she had into me."

Madelyn and Stanley Dunham married in 1940, a few weeks before she graduated from high school. Their daughter, Stanley Ann, was born in 1942. After several moves to and from California, Texas, Washington and Kansas, Stanley Dunham's job landed the family in Hawaii.

It was there, in a Russian class at the University of Hawaii, that Stanley Ann met Obama's father, a Kenyan named Barack Hussein Obama. Their son was born in August 1961, but the marriage didn't last.

Stanley Ann later married an Indonesian, and Obama moved to that country with his mother and stepfather at age 6. But in 1971, her mother sent him back to Hawaii to live with her parents. He stayed with the Dunhams until he graduated from high school in 1979.

In his autobiography, Obama wrote fondly of playing basketball on a court below his grandparents' 10th-floor Honolulu apartment, and looking up to see his grandmother watching.

Madelyn Dunham, who took university classes but never earned a degree, nonetheless rose from a secretarial job at the Bank of Hawaii to become one of the state's first female bank vice presidents.

"Every morning, she woke up at 5 a.m. and changed from the frowsy muumuus she wore around the apartment into a tailored suit and high-heeled pumps," Obama wrote.

After her health took a turn for the worse, her brother said on Oct. 21 that she had already lived long enough to see her "Barry" achieve what she'd wanted for him.

"I doubt if it would occur to her that he would go this far this fast. But she's enjoyed watching it," Charles Payne, 83, said in a brief telephone interview from his Chicago home.

Stanley Dunham died in 1992; Obama's father is also deceased.

When Obama was young, he and his grandmother toured the United States by Greyhound bus, stopping at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park, Disneyland and Chicago, where Obama would years later settle.

It was an incident during his teenage years that became one of Obama's most vivid memories of the woman he called "Toot" — a version of the Hawaiian word for grandmother, tutu.

She had been aggressively panhandled by a man and, for safety's sake, she wanted her husband to take her to work. When Obama asked why, his grandfather said Madelyn Dunham was bothered because the panhandler was black.

The words hit the biracial Obama "like a fist in my stomach," he wrote later. He was sure his grandparents loved him deeply. "And yet," he added, "I knew that men who might easily have been my brothers could still inspire their rawest fears."

Obama referred to the incident again when he addressed race in a speech in March during a controversy over his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. "I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother," he said.

Dunham was "a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world but who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her on the street."

Madelyn Lee Payne, the oldest of four children, was born in October 1922 in Peru, Kan., but lived much of her childhood in nearby Augusta.

From his grandmother, Obama "gets his pragmatism, his levelheadedness, his ability to stay centered in the eye of the storm," his sister told The Associated Press. "His sensible, no-nonsense (side) is inherited from her."

Are you serious? You take issue with my friend's dad being an officer? Because he had to arrest criminals regardless of skin pigmentation?

And people like Thomas and Rice couldn't be following their convictions? But Barack Obama, in clinging to the same views held by other prominent minority leaders and paroting white Marxist dogma in accordance with the white leadership in his party is "thinking for himself?"

You really are full of foul fetid fertilizer.
Take a dump.

I do have to take issue with the idea that Barack Obama is some type of free thinker. This is a man who has voted with the Democratic Party 96 percent of the time. Of course, Joe Biden has voted with the Democratic Party 96.7 percent of the time...

Israel said...

The word "free thinker" is meaningless the way you guys define it which is that a Black guy must hold views diametrically opposed to the vast majority of all blacks to be a free thinker.

Do you know how insulting and racist that is? (of course you don't) You are basically saying that almost 100 percent of Black people are Marxists who want money for nothing.

---

And on voting records, so what? George Bush has done the wrong thing almost 100% of the time so if you vote against his party 97 % of the time, chances are you are doing the right thing.

---

After the idiot the Republicans have subjected the country to for the past eight years I will settle for just a "thinker."

Um...we don't consider people who follow the crowd to be "free thinkers" and...you have a problem with that?

Hey PMB, What's a white Marxist?

You ever hear of McCarthyism? never thought we'd see that particular brand of stupidity again, but here it is, and you are a shining example of it.

Is that where you got the idea to falsely claim communists are everywhere? How does it feel to be the modern incarnation of Joe McCarthy? How does it feel to try and destroy your country in a misguided attempt to save it?

Who else is on your list, PMB?

Are you really stupid enough to believe your own hype? Keep spewing your putrid, paranoid baloney, but remember that only members of your own party are stupid enough to believe it.

Try reading some history, cuz believe me, when you get to the part about that pathetic fear-monger McCarthy, it'll be like looking in the mirror.

------

And if the Democratic party leadership is left-wing Marxist, does that mean the Republican party leaders are right-wing Nazis?

Israel said...

The Republican crowd doesn't think at all, that is why they are constantly railing against the cultural elite and liberal academia because those people do think, that's why they are largely on the democratic side of the aisle.

The crowd is stupid, especially the Republican crowd.

A real free thinker would be someone like Ted Kasczinski, but I wouldn't want him as president.

Israel said...

You guys convinced me:

I wanted to vote for George Bush because I think he's done an awesome job the past eight years but he wasn't running again for some strange reason so I cast my support behind McCain.

The economy is going great under Bush and I don't want to screw that up. Plus the Iraqis love us now and they have an awesome, stable U.S.-style democracy over there just like George Bush predicted.

It is so awesome that George Bush had the intellectual foresight to destroy all of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction right before they gave them to marxist islamic terrorists like Obama because Fox news told me Obama was planning on blowing up the Statue of Liberty while stomping on a baby wrapped in an american flag with his other terrorist friends.

I think Palin is the most qualified VP candidate ever, but unfortunately McCain looks really healthy so she probably won't get to be president right away. You can tell how healthy McCain is by his robust complexion and all his twitches and tics and the fact that he can only raise his old man arms half way. Anyway it's a shame Palin won't get to use all the foreign policy experience she has gained by watching Russia all those years while living in Alaska.

Go McCain-Palin!!

You're sounding a little nervous there, buddy. Relax, you guys got Micky Mouse and all his acorn pals on your side, it'll be ok. :)

I refuse to dignify these latest remarks with a response, save one.

McCain lost mobility in his arms as a reward for putting his country first. Do not mock that.

Cyndi said...

Yes, I second that!

When we have all spent five or so years in a POW camp, we can compare stories with John McCain.

Personally, I believe he has earned this position in a number of ways. He isn't a perfect person, but he certainly has given his life for his country. Can we say the same?

Anonymous said...

The word "free thinker" is meaningless the way you guys define it which is that a Black guy must hold views diametrically opposed to the vast majority of all blacks to be a free thinker.

This, obviously, is not my definition of a free thinker...I say obviously because I'm fairly certain you're(look, I did it right this time)intelligent enough to understand that there isn't a single person on here who would define a free thinker in this way...

The question of whether voting with the Democratic Party is right or wrong is irrelevant to my point, which is that, in spite of his soaring "look at me...I'm bipartisan, I work with both sides of the aisle" rhetoric, Obama is actually simply an ambitious, talented junior senator who willingly toed the party line in exchanged for his party's presidential nomination. Of course, McCain has been guilty of this as well, especially in recent months. However, the fact remains that only one candidate has a proven record of reaching across the aisle, of working effectively with members of both parties. I don't need to tell you which candidate I am referring to, as a simple check of the voting records will make it clear enough. If the goal is to "unite" the country, the choice is clear.

The Republican crowd doesn't think at all, that is why they are constantly railing against the cultural elite and liberal academia because those people do think, that's why they are largely on the democratic side of the aisle.

What page of the "2008 Democratic Party's Guide to Debating Republicans Manual" contains this piece of rhetorical brilliance? Or has it become so cliched from decades of use that it doesn't even make the manual anymore? Either way, it was petty when they first came up with it, and it is still petty today.

And if the Democratic party leadership is left-wing Marxist, does that mean the Republican party leaders are right-wing Nazis?

Neither of these statements are true. On the broad political spectrum both mainstream American Parties are crowded together in the middle. Republicans and Democrats are essentially the same, with just enough minor differences to provide the illusion of choice. That's part of the genius of our political system. The extremes will never fair well, which results in a steady government. Of course, it also results in a lack of political diversity...

Alas...I'm afraid I ramble once again...

And lest I forget...

----

Well I don't know what happened to McCain in Vietnam, I guess we'll have to take his word for it. Unfortunately he is a politician so his word isn't worth much.

And "Hero" is a relative term. To some Vietnamese the Viet Cong soldiers who defeated a far superior invading enemy are probably "heros" while people who flew over their county and dropped bombs on them probably don't seem so heroic.

All I'm saying is not everyone who goes to war is a hero. Is McCain a hero? I don't know...

Is George Bush a hero for protecting Texas from the Viet Cong? To some people he is.

I keep my eyes peeled for suspicious looking characters all the time at the airport, does that make me a hero in the war on terror?

The McCain situation aside, I don't consider "surviving" a heroic act, but that's just me...

What I'm trying to point out is the ridiculous notion that everyone in this country is a "Hero" no matter what.

Every single soldier who goes to war is a "hero" even if he just went there to get money for college and is pooping his pants.

People who get shot by friendly fire are "heros." Every firefighter is a "hero." Every cop is a "hero" regardless of circumstances.

The people who were in the towers during 9-11 are all "heros" and we are all "heros" in the war on terror.

I think when you do that and you start making inncoent victims of circumstance into "heros" you drain all the meaning from the term "hero."

The other side of the coin is that everone who we don't like or agree with is a "terrorist" or a "terrorist sympathizer."

It's ridiculous and that's what I was trying to point out.

Now I'm gonna go get a hero sandwich and go vote for McCain, which makes me a Hero too...

Personally, I think his track is only going one way!

The bright spot of this outcome that I will focus on, is that it is a major achievement for civil rights, which is a historical moment. The Republicans brought this on themselves with an unprecedented level of arrogance, incompetence and corruption.

Seriously what do they expect? This is a complete repudiation of them on every level. I actually agree with alot of the philosophical underpinings in the Republican platform, but over the past eight years they have abandoned those in favor of greed and their stubborn attempts to make our country a theocracy.

This is good for America because it sends the Republicans back to the drawing board properly humbled so that they can reinvent themselves. They have a lot to offer America, but they need to get their heads out of their rear ends and go back to their roots.

As far as Obama is concerned, good luck cleaning up the mess left by the worst president in the history of the world. It's probably an impossible task, but unlike our current president at least you have a moral compass and the intelligence to give us a fighting chance.

God Bless America and let's hope the Republicans have been cured of their propensity for turning over governance to the idiot sons of the rich.

80 Russia wants a scientific genius for their anointed messiah this Christmas. That's what they want to be given. India wants a messiah who can feed them and clothe them without working.
America, what do you want? What's your opinion, America? You been crying for a messiah. You notice, this is taped. You been crying for a messiah, what do you want? You got what you wanted. You wanted a politician, and you got it. Now, what are you going to do with it? He's going to skin you; that's exactly what it's going to do, going to send you to your grave. You wanted it; you got your desire. Now, what are you going to do with it? It's on your hands now: modern Ahab and Jezebel. The very thing that you run here for freedom, you pulled yourself right back into it again, but that's what you wanted. You wanted some flattop Ricky, modern Elvis of the day; you've got it. You want a smart, educated politician with a genius brain; you got it. How did you do it? By crooked, and the machine of politics to bring it in; pulled it over the good people's eyes.

THE.FALLING.APART.OF.THE.WORLD_ JEFF.IN V-10 N-6 SUNDAY_ 62-1216
81 Now, I'm neither Democrat nor Republican, I'm a Christian. See, see? Both sides are rotten. But when a man that did at least display the thoughts and hopes of Christianity on the other side, and then you turn around and set up machines to do what? To elect the genius that you wanted. How did you do it? You put him on the television, scattered it across the country, oh, my, trying to test the mental powers between the two presidents in elect to be. You elected the one you thought that had the genius brain, and not looking what was behind it.

THE.FALLING.APART.OF.THE.WORLD_ JEFF.IN V-10 N-6 SUNDAY_ 62-1216
82 You see what you got in your bargain? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Oh, it's Christmas again. Yeah, America got her messiah: what are you going to do with him? Watch him what he does to you. You just remember, just like Hitler did to Germany. You just remember; keep that on your mind. It is taped. Yeah, you got it. Yet, there was still enough from these revivals that's passed the country, enough decent people left with God-fearing minds in them, that would've made the thing and held it a little longer. But you invented yourself, by your mechanics, a machine that could cheat on votes, and your own newspapers scattered it across the country; and you done nothing about it to straighten it up. But you got it. That's the kind of a messiah they wanted, so I guess they may be at rest: they got a genius, a brain, sure, smart, highly educated.

A moral compass? Supporting the rights of abortion supporters and same sex marriage rights? Wanting to take away freedoms that we already have in place, fought for and created by our forefathers?

In the next four years, we will probably have abortion stands on the street corners run by two married men who entered the country illegally. Makes me proud to be an American, let me tell you.

Then there is the poor migrant workers, homeless families, street people, etc. who all somehow manage to vote, who believe the promise of "spread the wealth" and gaze adoringly at their leader, and they will never be one bit different or better off at the end of the term. They will just have received more handouts during the time.

This country is in the shape it is in, because we left God behind. He put the ten commandments in very simple language, but apparently Americans can't read?

Enough said... I need to spend my time, saving the lives of innocent children.

I will never support tax paid abortions on demand, partial birth abortion or letting poor little murdered babies lay and die without care. I will not support gay marriage. I will not support the government taking away our guns, Rush's or Sean's, Glenn's or Brother Jeff's right to free speech, or our children's rights to teach their children as they see fit. Sharla that's the right attitude to take.

You will see in time that all the lies you have been told by the Republican party are just lies and don't amount to a hill of beans.

And it's Republicans who are more likely to let an uninsured baby die. Republicans are more likely to ban books and restrict religious and free speech rights.
And Obama is against gay marraige, so why do you keep saying he isn't?
No one is touching your guns.

As for Obama's election meaning that racism no longer exists, I wish that were true?

White people all over the country are patting themselves on the back for electing Obama, but the truth is if White people had their way he wouldn't be President because the majority of White people voted for the White guy.

What does it say about racism, that most white people would rather vote for a white guy from a party that has put our country in the toilet? If Obama were white I honestly think it would be a much bigger landslide, but of course we'll never know.

I wanna see the final demographic vote breakdown numbers and analyze them. I don't know what it means, but it doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist...

I believe in evil spirits and spiritual warfare, I DO think, I just don't think the same way you do.

(from the Wall Street Journal)

The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace

By JEFFREY SCOTT SHAPIRO
Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush. The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."

Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

The president's original Supreme Court choice of Harriet Miers alarmed Republicans, while his final nomination of Samuel Alito angered Democrats. His solutions to reform the immigration system alienated traditional conservatives, while his refusal to retreat in Iraq has enraged liberals who have unrealistic expectations about the challenges we face there.

It seems that no matter what Mr. Bush does, he is blamed for everything. He remains despised by the left while continuously disappointing the right.

Yet it should seem obvious that many of our country's current problems either existed long before Mr. Bush ever came to office, or are beyond his control. Perhaps if Americans stopped being so divisive, and congressional leaders came together to work with the president on some of these problems, he would actually have had a fighting chance of solving them.

Like the president said in his 2004 victory speech, "We have one country, one Constitution and one future that binds us. And when we come together and work together, there is no limit to the greatness of America."

To be sure, Mr. Bush is not completely alone. His low approval ratings put him in the good company of former Democratic President Harry S. Truman, whose own approval rating sank to 22% shortly before he left office. Despite Mr. Truman's low numbers, a 2005 Wall Street Journal poll found that he was ranked the seventh most popular president in history.

Just as Americans have gained perspective on how challenging Truman's presidency was in the wake of World War II, our country will recognize the hardship President Bush faced these past eight years -- and how extraordinary it was that he accomplished what he did in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems. He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.

Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty -- a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Mr. Shapiro is an investigative reporter and lawyer who previously interned with John F. Kerry's legal team during the presidential election in 2004.

Israel,

It is still a free world, so laughing can be your choice! I am happy to be a source of amusement, because I believe in standing up for the "right moral issues", not a political party.

I am a Christian before I vote one way or the other, and my beliefs are my moral compass. Most of the time, it is the lesser of two evils to choose from in an election.

I don't know you, but I do know that you were taught the basic truth as a young person. Hopefully you can dig deep enough to remember that, and look at the broader picture here, not just at political or economical issues.

Republicans don't hold the market on corruption, greed, arrogance, incompetence. It is across all of the world, regardless of political choice, etc.

But we live in America and it is my country too. We still have a right to free speech.

There are young children and people who are being so influenced by the liberal lifestyle that they don't know anything else. It seems OK to have sex with as many people as you want to (feels good, so do it) and then oops, lets's just kill that baby, cos the timing isn't so good right now, and I can't remember who the father is. They are bombarded with messages all the time, that it is their right. Well, there are consequences to our choices.

I choose to support the bringing of ALL beautiful lives into the world, like your precious baby niece.

I choose to say that I don't hate a homosexual person, I DO hate their lifestyle. It is a perversion of the highest degree.

Those are just two examples. I will continue to stand up for issues like those as long as I have breath left in me.

Our country was founded by people who came to America to express their religious choices, and those differed, I am sure. But a belief in God was at the basis of all of them. He is now left out of much of America in their pursuit of a feel good lifestyle.

I have always respected the office of president, even through immoral acts of Clinton, etc. People make mistakes and hopefully learn from their mistakes.

But I have little confidence in a person who was bought and paid for by many people who want a country so their lifestyle and immoral choices can flourish, or believe that he is their messiah to change. Notice that I don't mention financial rewards?

Obama doesn't have to support gay marriage himself. But he let those people, along with many other agendas, assist in buying his way through the campaign.

I am as highly educated (formal education)as you are. The difference is that I hope I fall back on a much different guiding principle.

It isn't hate and fear that guide my choices, but I believe in my Lord and Savior, not a man or woman as my leader. We each have our choices to make.

When a country starts to see a human being as their messiah, we are living in dangerous times.

I love people of all races. I love people in general! I have friends who are gay, agnostic, various races, religions, etc.

But they all know where I stand on moral issues, and hopefully respect my beliefs too, as I disagree with some issues and still love and respect them as a person. I don't care if they live in Ohio, Singapore, Japan, Australia, or even California! They are my brothers and sisters.

I am thrilled that a person of a mixed race is in office. It is a historical moment. My issues are of a much deeper nature.

These views probably seem simplistic to you, but then life is really a simple choice. We believe or we don't. Isn't that right?

Now I will get off my soapbox.

Israel said...

Sharla,

The thing is that you don't understand Obama's voting record on abortion.

You don't understand the legislative process and how laws are written. you don't understand how poorly-drafted, well intentioned laws can do more harm than good. You also don't understand the constitutional right to privacy. You don't understand the principle of limited government -- what you don't understand about these things could and does fill volumes.

All you understand is that abortion is wrong. Yes, abortion is wrong, you are 100 percent correct about that.

Obama has a plan to try to reduce abortions as much as possible because (like me) he is not pro-abortion, but he understands that (legally or illegally )woman are not going to stop terminating their pregnancies. We have to work within that reality. His plan is a good plan and the best that can be hoped for.

Like many evangelical christians you are a quintessential one-issue voter. Your heart is in the right place but you aren't terribly sophisticated politically.

It isn't that you lack intelligence, but my guess is you haven't been following politics all that closely until the recent rise of the religious right.

You place all your trust in the Republicans because you think they are going to end abortions. They aren't because none of their "solutions" make any sense.

I know first hand (from personal experience) that they could really care less about making this issue go away. They will just keep milking it (and you) for all you're worth.

Paul-Michael,

That is an excellent article - thanks for posting it.

This is so very true...
"Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty -- a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House."

I voted for George Bush twice, and I support him today. He brought our country through some horrible days. He has made mistakes, but every single President will - this is a position that is becoming almost impossible to lead in. The left is going so far off to the left, and the right is trying to stay on the right, and the country is split down the middle.

He certainly isn't an idiot or a disgrace. And he has the ability to laugh at himself, while others laugh at him when he mixes up words because he is dyslexic.

Admirable to seek a very public office when words appear backwards to him and he has to speak them in front of millions.

Cyndi:

Ok, the second real issue. Gays. Gay Marraige. Gay perversity.

First of all gay people aren't going anywhere. Their perverse behavior isn't going anywhere. Many Republicans are as gay and as perverse as you can get.

Gay people are gay and they do gay things and the government Republican or Democratic isn't going to change that. (Unless you are willing to send them to concenteration camps like Hitler did.)

Gay marraige is wrong. Obama is against it. I voted against it yesterday.

That said, gay people are human beings and have rights and those rights need to be respected. I have plenty of gay friends and they respect my views and I understand and appreciate where they are coming from too.

People who support gay marraige also support Obama. What is he supposed to do about that?

The KKK endorsed McCain. Is McCain now supporting the KKK's agenda all of a sudden?

No.

Then why is Obama pro Gay marraige in your mind?

Yes your views are simplistic, especially if you expect Obama to raise our children so that they don't have premarital sex and pursue a "feel-good" life style.

That's our job, not the government's and not Obamas. He's got enough on his plate already cleaning up the mess George Bush and the Republicans created.

Israel said...

Cyndi:

I think we all know why you support George Bush, you even said it's because He has "kind eyes," remember?

George Bush is a proven religious hypocrite and someone who is the most spectacularly unqualified president in history. He is not just dyslexic (my favorite cousin is dyslexic but highly iontelligent) Bush is dyslexic and just plain stupid.

He was a drunk, a coke addict and neer-do-well who followed his dad's footsteps and although he accomplished nothing on his own, you made him President and the country has been paying for it since.

The guy couldn't even invade the right country after 9-11, but you guys don't like to admit your mistakes so you are now trying to make him out to be some sort of misunderstood sacrificial lamb.

McCain was the sacrificial lamb. He died for George Bush's sins even though McCain is 100 times the man Bush is.

I'll fess up now. I was very happy when McCain got the GOP nomination. I was ready to vote for him over Hilary because Hilary's only real qualification was that she was once married to Bill.

But McCain ran a horrible campaign and picked a horrible VP. MCCain turned into some sort of Republican robot pandering to his far-right base. So I couldn't vote for McCain.

Obama came out of nowhere and ran a brilliant campaign. He was an outstanding candidate and someone who got to where he was in spite of and not because of his connections. His positions made sense.

Yet, you consistently demonstrate a fundamental lack of respect - respect for people who are not like you, do not think like you do, do not share your opinions. You are not the sole arbiter of truth and you would do well to cultivate a more humble manner.

Do I love them any less?

No.

In my world a political argument is like a fist-fight and if you don't wanna get hurt you should run away.

Hit'em hard and keep hitting them until they quit. Then afterwards you can hug and shake hands.

I have plenty of respect for Sharla and John and Tommy and Cyndi and you (to a lesser extent) but sometimes I have no respect for their arguments.

Molly Ivins was a famous columnist from Texas who knew George Bush when he was a kid and covered his career as governor till he became president. I got to meet her and she told me a lot of inside info about George Bush's true character. She knew him personally and followed his career first hand.

It's unfortunate that she died before yesterday's election.

Here is what she has to say about Bush and the Republicans in a charming folksy manner that maybe you guys can relate to.

She predicted exactly what would happen to the republicans exactly four years ago in a column called:

Mourning in America

----
Molly Ivins (RIP)

Do you know how to cure a chicken-killin' dog? Now, you know you cannot keep a dog that kills chickens, no matter how fine a dog it is otherwise.

Some people think you cannot break a dog that has got in the habit of killin' chickens, but my friend John Henry always claimed you could. He said the way to do it is to take one of the chickens the dog has killed and wire the thing around the dog's neck, good and strong. And leave it there until that dead chicken stinks so bad that no other dog or person will even go near that poor beast. Thing'll smell so bad the dog won't be able to stand himself. You leave it on there until the last little bit of flesh rots and falls off, and that dog won't kill chickens again.

The Bush administration is going to be wired around the neck of the American people for four more years, long enough for the stench to sicken everybody. It should cure the country of electing Republicans.

And at least Democrats won't have to clean up after him until it is real clear to everyone who made the mess.

In some circles, that will be seen as sour grapes. But in Texas, we've been losing elections to the demagogic triad of God, gays and guns long enough to be pretty cynical about how it works out. I'm sure millions of Americans voted for George W. under the honest impression that he stands for moral values – family, patriotism, faith in God. I'm sure it's the Democrats' fault that such a silly ruse is allowed to stand.

Israel said...

What I'm doing is poking holes in that "silly ruse."

I know you guys don't like it, but its for your own good.

Until you guys learn to question the path the Republican Party has taken in the last 8 years you will always be part of what is wrong with America.

I'm not saying the Democrats are perfect, but as an American and a Patriot who loves his country every bit as much as you do, I can't stand the Republican stink any longer.

Bill of Wrongs
The Executive Branch's Assault on America's Fundamental Rights

Written by Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose

Here's a review.

"In this, her final and perhaps greatest book, Molly Ivins launches a counterattack on the executive branch’s shredding of our cherished Bill of Rights. From illegal wiretaps and the unlawful imprisonment of American citizens to the creeping influence of religious extremism on our national agenda and the erosion of the checks and balances that prevent a president from seizing unitary powers, Ivins and her longtime collaborator, Lou Dubose, describe the attacks on America’s vital constitutional guarantees. With devastating humor and keen eyes for deceit and hypocrisy, they show how severe these incursions have become, and they ask us all to take an active role in protecting the Bill of Rights."

Here's something Zion posted Four years ago when he was an unabashed Bush groupie.

If Zion can learn from his mistakes why can't the rest of you?

I was looking back at some posts four years ago and laughing about all the adoration you guys heaped on Bush. There was even a joke someone told about Bush being so great that he could literally walk on water.

Zion and everyone else (except me) thought Bush was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Well you were all wrong and I was right. The only problem is that you only realize it after Billions have been wasted on a useless war. And before Bush's economic policies destroyed the economy and our economic standing at home and abroad.

It must hurt being wrong all the time.

Here's Zion's diatribe:

"Bush, you are a complete Hypocrite! Not like Kerry who can't even decide whether he owns an SUV or not . Not like Kerry who owns six houses worth a total of around $30 million (not including the house he sold in Italy before he announced his running) payed for by the money from a mostly foreign working company while he claims to identify with the six-pack-Joe and talk about how terrible it is that Bush is not bringing jobs to America.! Not like Kerry who voted for the war only to vote against it. Shame on you Bush for not claiming to be perfect, on the contrary, admitting your a Christian which requires you to realize how imperfect they are and apologize to God for your sins. Shame on you for admitting that! How dare you use your brains and wit to use what resources you had to become the single most powerful political figure in the world, and realizing that if your going to change the world, you can't do it without some help.

Bush you're so dumb! You never did establish yourself academically. I don't care if you got a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Yale, and Masters of Business Administration degree at Harvard, its all because your family was rich, not like the Heinz family that Kerry married into, who is very, very poor.

Bush you are a thief! Thanks for "stealing" the election, when in fact you obviously had enough votes to win. It was Gore's election, even though he was grasping for any hope of maybe having enough dimpled chads to win the election. Didn't you know that all those people counting the votes were part of the psychic community and could sense what the voters "really" meant whether they voted that way or not? We should fret about you stealing the last election and forget that Kerry will steal money from our own pockets to feed the lazy!

Let us all cry about the "popular vote", when this country's presidency has been based on the electorial college for our countries entire history. Let us cry that we have a system designed to meet the needs of each state! Yes! It doesn't matter that this system has chosen our presidents Democrat, Republican, Wigs, and others alike! Let us not care simply because we did not get our way!! "Boohoo!"

Let's complain about our budget!! Shame on you Bush for putting the money back that Clinton had taken away from the men and women who secure this nations liberties back where it belongs, for not neglecting our defense needs and actually spending some money to secure us! We want to be able to claim that our budget is balanced even though we have areas of importance that are being deprived! Dumb Bush had the common sense to see our need and meet it!! . All while reducing taxes! Bush you are a horrible man!

Bush, you had no reason to go to war! Why should you go against a dictator who tortured men and women every day, fed them to dogs, hung them, and murdered his own people with gas bombs while providing a safe house for terrorists? Who cares if he really posed a threat to the U.S.! We know its only because your daddy, and not the fact that he was providing funds for millions of innocent people to die!

Terrible, horrible Bush, you are a real man who has enough backbone to stick to your convictions regardless of the people who want to undermine this country's sovereignty and tell us we have to consult the UN on every action we take, whether its in your country's own defense or not. You have the sense to not wait for the battle to come to our soil, but fight it on their soil. What a dumb idea!

Not to worry! We can get rid of this horrible man! All we have to do is

Vote for Kerry, not because he be will make a good president, but because he is not Bush!
Truly that will solve our problems!

Vote for Kerry before you vote against him!

This coming president will come into a mess. He will have 2 wars on his hands, he will also have some of the worst economic mess probably ever, thanks to Bush.

He's got to be able to make decisions and cause things to get cleaned up, but making a decision without acknowledging it was a wrong decision and correcting it is what was Bush's major flaw. I don't want to see more of that."

Yet, Obama (same age, good looks, adorable little family, and a senior citizen running mate) is brilliant, ran a brilliantly strategic campaign, and will be an inspiring leader, when he has no governing experience and his foreign affairs experience extends to having a father from Kenya?

Palin isn't even close to being in Obama's league.

The difference between them is even wider than the difference between the nondescript degree Palin got at Idaho vs. Obama graduating Magna Cum laude from Harvard.

The town that Palin was mayor of (where she tried to ban books) has a population that is many times smaller than the number of people who show up to a Bulls game on an off night in Chicago where Obama was elected.

The number of people in the entire state of Alaska is also far smaller than the number of people in the Chicago area.

It's like comparing someone who plays little league baseball to a major leaguer (well not quite, but you get the picture.)

Palin is a nice enough gal. But she not well educated, well-versed or intelligent. They are not in the same league and thank God for that!

My reflections on Election Day 2008...

While I am concerned about Obama's ability to govern, I do pledge the respect he is owed by virtue of the office.

The predictable collapse of the Republican party is directly attributable to those who have turned their backs on the conservative principles on which the party was founded. Conservatism is not dead. In fact, in exit polls, voters identified their ideology as "conservative" over "liberal" by almost a 2-1 margin.

McCain lost because he ran as a moderate. This effect was compounded by Obama's tactically brilliant repetition of the "McCain=Bush" theme. I'm man enough to admit that George Bush's Ronald Reagan disguise in 2000 fooled me pretty good. But as the old saying goes...

Bush is no conservative and the past eight years have shown that. But he was smart enough to know that he had to act like one in order to get elected. (Which also explains why Obama spent the campaign talking about tax cuts and supporting bans on gay marriage.)

I was not under the delusion, nor were many other Republicans, that John McCain would magically turn into a conservative on Jan. 20. Many political pundits have pointed to his response to the economic crisis as the turning point in the election. And I agree, but for different reasons. I strongly believe that McCain's support for the socialist bailout coupled with his subsequent suggestion that the government buy up even more bad mortgages and his staff's micromanagement of Palin alienated the conservative base. The McCain camp sucked the wind out of its own sails.

Sadly, conservative Democrats (willing to run for office) are an extinct breed. And conservative Republicans (willing to run for office) are certainly on the endangered species list.

I am reminded of what John Adams told John Quincy as the latter contemplated the idea of a political future: "If good men do not lead, someone else will." As good men (and/or women) have all but vanished from the American landscape, so have the good leaders.

What the next four years hold, only God knows. We know that America must turn its back on Israel and that it ultimately will be destroyed. Whose watch it happens on is anyone's guess.

I am still watching it, Bro Jeff just made the exact same joke that Israel made on here. You all have to see this!

Israel said...

So Obama just appointed a Jew as his chief of staff. And not just any Jew, the son of a militant Zionist.

So much for Obama hating Jews and Israel.

Israel said...

Rahm Emanuel even volunteered as a civilian volunteer in the Israel Defense Forces during the 1991 Gulf War.

Wow! It looks like Obama really, really hates Jews and hates Israel, huh?

Unknown said...

Wow you're late. I expected that comment from you yesterday.

Unknown said...

(just playing devil's advocate)

Might he be cultivating a token Jewish friend when he's actually a closet anti-semite?

(back to normal)

On the choice for chief of staff, I'm pleased he didn't pick Khalidi,
and Emanuel's credentials are good on the issue of Israel. Whether or not Obama will actually support Israel or be the first US President to push for an international Jerusalem remains to be seen.

On the other hand, Emanuel's reputation also sends a hard line message to conservatives. So much for bi-partisan rhetoric.

It must also be noted that Emanuel has yet to accept the position.

Unknown said...

update: Emanuel just accepted.

Unknown said...

So, now we have a Messiah/Emanuel duo. That's rich.

Anonymous said...

Emanuel is not a surprising choice. He is a former Clinton aide, a multimillionaire, from Chcago, and he shares Obama's liberal ideology.
In addition, he is well known for his outspoken, hard-charging ways, for being willing to play the bad guy. Obama has promised to bring civility to Washington, to lead from the middle. Emanuel will allow Obama to avoid getting his hands dirty...

Unknown said...

*VIGOROUSLY stirring the pot*

Tommy, a few others, and myself started this conversation last night.

Obama - Harvard educated - has way more in comon culturally with white liberal elitists than African-Americans. He's not really an "authentic" black, so by Israel's standards, you might even say he's "betrayed" his race.

:eyeroll:

"Typical" white people don't like getting their hands dirty either and would rather have the wait staff take care of business.

Sharla said...

Yea, who cares... Israel, did you get your dumb speakers working??did you watch the service???
If not, can one of you computer geniuses tell Israel how to turn up his volume?
This is more important.

Sharla said...

(you guys KNOW what Bro. Jeff said Sun)... don't you think Israel should hear it?

Unknown said...

Trouble shooting over the phone (I've tried it with family) is nigh-near impossible. Through this textual medium? Hmmm.

There's a number of things I could suggest, but they'll all be different depending on what operating system Israel has.

Are you running Vista, Windows XP, or Mac OS X?

Israel said...

I agree with John, Everyone is saying that Obama is the first black president and that's not entirely accurate.

He is the first (known) bi-racial president.

He is just as much white as he is black and some would argue that since he was raised by his white mother and grandmother, culturally he is more white than black.

Most people only see skin color and aren't sophisticated enough racially to make those distinctions.

It's the same reason everyone says Tiger Woods is black, when he is really just as accurate to say he is asian.

Sharla said...

Tiger Woods is a cutie! ;)

Obama is good looking except for his ridiculous ears.

Israel said...

Millenium Edition. I have tried all the obvious stuff.

When I pull up the sound controls through settings, i seem to be locked out of being able to adjust the volumn for soe reason.

There is an F4 key on my laptiop with a speaker icon on it but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Israel said...

It's that little sound Icon on teh F4 key, but I don't know how to get it to do anything.

So I just have basically given up...

Sharla said...

Excuse me, I should have said, "President elect Obama is good looking except for his ridiculous ears." out of respect. ;)

Sharla said...

Israel, I always took you for a fighter, a conquering hero type. Given up??? What??
Fight the good fight! PRESS ON! or at least press more buttons...;)

Unknown said...

He is just as much white as he is black and some would argue that since he was raised by his white mother and grandmother, culturally he is more white than black.

*giggles*
I knew you'd say that. (yanking the chain)

----

Millenium Edition, eh? Oooh boy.
If there is a speaker icon on the F4 key, is there (lower left of your laptop) a [FN] key? You may try holding that down and hitting F4.

It's very difficult to say without seeing it - I don't have access to a laptop with that version of windows either. MS quit supporting it a few years ago.

Sharla said...

You're no longer gonna need to worry about putting gas in the car or paying your mortgage, shoot, just go buy a new computer!

Unknown said...

And, I absolutely agree with you. Culturally, he is very white (not saying that's good or bad). On the other hand, there's no denying he identifies with the black community. Nothing wrong with that either.

Unknown said...

Agree with Sharla, you owe yourself a new laptop. Call it your post election present to yourself for your candidate winning the election.

Mac OS X - 17 15 7H3 c00l (it is the cool)

Israel said...

Well I can't hear the sermon and I don't want to buy a new laptop in this economy just because the volume control is stuck.

So I'll probably end up in hell for not hearing that sermon. But the good news is, if I go to hell, I can blame George Bush and the Republicans.

Sharla said...

Ok, Israel, I'll get the church to send it to you on DVD just in case PMB has reserved a special place in hell for people who don't listen to sermons that I've told them to. Or, and this is more likely, people who blame everything on President Bush.

Jeshanah said...

Tiger Woods is an extremely dull person when he is interviewed. I watched him on Conan years ago and he nearly bored me to death!!

Sharla said...

Well, what do your expect? ALL he does is play GOLF! He is still cute and he has such a cute little name. :)

justin h said...

if one that is a minority can not be racist. and obama has a jew on his staff is he allowed to attack the jews now?

justin h said...

Is the speakers installed and working properly in the control panel/sound and audio device windows registery? try reinstalling windows would be what i suggest that would fix all the problems with your computer.

Sharla said...

Justin may be on to something, following Israel's logic. President-elect Obama can not be perceived as anti semite no matter what outrageous things he might say or do, cause his man is a Jew. That must be it. :)

Israel said...

I guarantee you that Iraq and the rest of the anti-Israeli's are quaking in their boots because of this appointment.

It sends a strong pro-Israel message...

Anonymous said...

It sends a strong pro-Israel message...

It does...although it sends an even stronger anti-bipartisanship message...

Hopefully the pro-Israel message is an indication of actual pro-Israel actions to follow. Time will tell...

As to the computer issues, I'm happy if I can get my laptop to turn on and load...so I don't think I would be much help...

Unknown said...

I just got turned on to Strategic Forecasting.

They are a private intelligence agency based out of Austin, and often publish free intelligence reports like this one about geo-political problems facing President-elect Obama.

Fascinating read, considering the Emanuel appointment.

Baron's magazine once referred to Stratfor as "The Shadow CIA" - they provide consulting services for international governments and F500 companies.

Israel said...

Who cares about sending a "bi-partisanship message?"

You think he should have appointed Newt Gingrich as his chief of staff?

The only things the Republicans have had to offer for the past eight years have been incompetence, corruption and greed.

We can do without some of that for a while...

Unknown said...

That's not the point.

Point is, Obama has promised to bring a new tone to Washington - politics, but with less acid, more love. He's supposed to heal the waters and all that [insert favorite term for manure].

It looks like bitter partisanship as usual....what that says about Obama, time will tell.

---

All that? I don't care.

Honestly, I'm almost a one-issue voter these days. The 2nd Amendment is the fundamental guarantee that our rights remain intact. The founders agree with me on this. In fact, an armed citizenry is insurance for a civilized society. (great article)

You glibly tell us that's not a concern and he "won't touch your guns."

Why?

His own campaign site trumpets his support - couched in weasel words - for Chicago/D.C. style gun laws (no legal handguns, all arms kept in a dysfunctional state). He has repeatedly expressed his opposition to concealed carry, and I've seen nothing from him that would indicate a reluctance to sign the UN (no) small arms treaty.

I know you are not anti-gun, so I'm not looking to get into a devil's advocate debate to defend your guy's positions.

My only point is you claim he will not infringe our 2A rights. Well? I don't see it.

And don't tell me I don't "need" those rights. Those rights are inalienable, undisputable, and no government can take them away, only guaranteeing in her constitution that they will not be infringed.

So.

Time will tell whose faith was misplaced. I pray my doubt is unfounded.

Boys and Girls, Here is our lesson for the day...

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ICE CREAM

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade in 2000. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium.

Her speech was concise. She said, 'If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.' She sat down. The class went wild. 'Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.' She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten.

Olivia won by a land slide.

Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and 60% of America reacts like nine year olds. They want ice cream.

The other 40% know they're going to have to feed the cow.

Unknown said...

I don't like ice cream that much (fer realz).

Awesome story.

Sharla said...

LOL Cyndi! Great example. That's exactly what I've been talking about Israel. Even though I love Ice Cream and I haven't been able to afford ice cream for quite a while and I know how good ice cream would taste...I also know there ain't no free ice cream.

In the news today...

At least Billy and Franklin Graham and I think alike on these issues, and Billy is a registered Democrat.

Billy Graham's work as a pastor to presidents is coming to an end, but he is praying for Barack Obama as the nation's next leader begins his work, Graham's son said Friday on the ailing evangelist's 90th birthday.

Franklin Graham said in an interview that his father's mind remains sharp even as his body continues to fail. But the preacher who has counseled every president beginning with Eisenhower is not in line to mentor Obama.

"My father feels like his time and day for that is over," Franklin Graham said. "But he would certainly like to meet (Obama) and pray with him."

Graham's views of the world are still respected in White House circles. Republican presidential candidate John McCain visited Graham at his mountainside home during the campaign, and Obama tried to meet Graham but wasn't able to do so because of the preacher's poor health.

Though never partisan in his preaching, Billy Graham is a registered Democrat. His son expressed concern about Obama's views on abortion and gay marriage — an issue Franklin Graham raised in a meeting with the Illinois senator — saying that he and is father are conservatives who believe the Bible speaks clearly on those issues.

"President-elect Obama heard our position," Franklin Graham said. "And I told him that this was very difficult for us and hard for us. It's a moral issue that we just can't back down on."

"But he's our president-elect, and those positions that he holds that are contrary to Biblical teaching, I hope that God will change his heart," said Graham, who now heads the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Obama favors abortion rights, and does not support a constitutional amendment to ban gay marrage. He supports civil unions and believes states should decide their own laws about marriage.

Unknown said...

Ahem. Israel? Allow me to compose your response?

---

Charming story. One written to sway people like you who are too stupid to think for yourselves.

McCain promised [blah blah blah blah] and how do you think he will pay for it? The little hack who wrote that stupid story could just as easily have written it to make either candidate look bad.

Every politician has to make promises they can't keep and lie to get elected. At least this time, we have one with a moral compass unlike those lying Republican scum who messed up our country.

PMB, Great impression of Israel, but you neglected to insult Cyndi and all of us folks out here in Gomerville! Be more direct! lol ;)

How can you tell this was written by a partisan liar trying to confuse people?

Nowhere in this litany does it say that Obama is against gay marraige. Why?

Because they are trying to confuse people so they purposely leave that out.

I am very much against gay marraige too, but I agree with those positions because they are legally and constitutionally sound.

Anonymous said...

How can you tell this was written by a partisan liar trying to confuse people?

The article is factually accurate. I don't see how we can hold the writer responsible if a reader is ignorant enough to assume that saying Obama is opposed to a constitutional ban on gay marriage is equivalent to saying he supports gay marriage.

National Holiday for Obama
(from cjonline.com)
Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation's 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

"Yes We Can" planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald's restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama's honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

At 7:30 a.m. on Inauguration Day, Obama Cake will be served at the downtown McDonald's, and a celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

----

Hmmm. Where have we seen that before?

I wonder if there is some transubstantiation going on with the Obama cake?

I thought it was interesting that this guy said he became a Conservative Republican first, then a Christian, then a pastor and then started consorting with male prostitutes and using meth.

So watch out folks cuz this is proof of where being a Republican will lead you...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Disgraced evangelical pastor Ted Haggard says ....

Haggard said he later became "a conservative Republican, loving the word of God, an evangelical, born-again, spirit-filled, charismatic, all those things.

"But some of the things that were buried in the depths of the sea from when I was in the second grade started to rage in my mind and in my heart," he said.

In 2006, Haggard was fired as pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs when a former male prostitute alleged they had a cash-for-sex relationship. The man also said he saw Haggard use methamphetamine. Haggard also stepped down as president of the National Association of Evangelicals
