We just watched a movie called North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. It was great! It is not the the North and South that I have previously seen. Becca found this one online and rented it, and when she told me the title, I was like, just don't watch it with Brandon anywhere around, because that is a pretty violent movie. I was thinking that it was the old Civil war movie that I had watched years ago, but it is a newer movie (made in 2004) about a girl from the Old English time period. Along the same lines as Charles Dickens 'Bleakhouse' and all of Jane Austin's novels. I highly recommend watching it, it's a really good movie!

I also made some No Bake Oatmeal Cookies, and they were delicious for the first time since I moved out here!!! I used to make them all the time in Ohio, and they always turned out perfectly, but since moving, I have attempted them to no avail at least 15 times. It's very discouraging when you love them and haven't had a good batch for over a year. I blame the hovel!!!

Obviously the fault was with the hovel. It was probably too damp with the drips from the cooler or something. I made 'em the other night at 1:00 am! Everyone was surprised in the morning. They were yummy :)

Dickens wrote a bleak hovel novel?

Speaking of great writing, I'm reminded of a brilliant quote from the movie "As Good As It Gets" when Jack Nicholson's character is asked how he writes women characters so well.

He responds, "I think of a man, then take away all sense of reason and accountability."

That reminds me of the Doonesbury strip, where a liberal complains to his friend about the lack of bombastic liberal "Limbaughs". The friend explains that the problem with liberals is that they're always being sensitive and taking other points of view into account. "Good point," admits the liberal.

Oh brother

That IS a good joke.

Liberals NEvER see any other point of view.

The conservatives do only have one point of view. The correct one.

Why does Louis Armstrong sound like he's gargling when he sings? Seriously.
Listerine(TM) should use that song as background for all their advertisements.

The other day, I got sent out to go get some butter and some chocolate chips. Since this is monsoon season in Tucson, oh excuse me, ORO VALLEY(for the snotty people), the winds were very high. Also around our house, for a couple miles, there are no MPH signs anywhere around, so naturally when a cop pulled behind me I slowed to 40 MPH, and the wind must have been making my car rock around, because I got pulled over. When I asked what I did, he said that I was going 40 when the speed limit was 50, and my tires were a little in the biker lane.

He let me off with a warning.

I obviously wasn't drunk.

Tsk, tsk, Zion! Imagine going 40 in a 50 mph zone! =)

Dana has an aunt and uncle that live in Oro Valley on Greythorn Place.(??) Do you know where that is? What is the name of your apt. complex? Maybe they know where that is.

It's a small world after all!

Hopefully Shan can put some pictures on here soon. I'm anxious to see where you guys are now. I'm sure she's busy; moving is such a pain!!!!!(but good in this case, since it's so much nicer!)
