Happy Anniversary to Me, Zion, Jariah, Becca and Brandon.... Happy Anniversary to Me, Zion, Jariah, Becca and Brandon.... Happy Anniversary dear Me, Zion, Jariah, Becca and Brandon........... Happy Anniversary to US!!!!
It was a year ago today that we arrived in Tucson and got our first glance of the hovel. It has been one insane year, with lots of crazy things happening, and quite a few very boring moments as well. Check back a little later for a recap of the past 365 days. =)
May 7th- Arrived in Tucson
May 8th- Police officers told my mom and I that we should not be in this neighborhood at our local gas station.
May 11th- Everyone was sick, I even lost my voice COMPLETELY for 3 days
May 14th- Mother’s Day, I couldn’t say goodbye to my Mom, Dad and Justin very well because my voice was still gone. A total stranger patted Becca’s hair in the bathroom of TGI Fridays… she was completely grossed out.
June 1st- Jariah and Becca’s car broke down.
June 6th- We went to Phoenix to pick up Jess and Janessa from the airport. I drove though a sand storm that made international news, then a thunderstorm on the way home.
June 7th- I stepped on about a million red ants and got bit all over my feet and legs. OUCH!
June 9th- Jess’ birthday, we went to Breakers and got FRIED despite wearing SPF 50 sunscreen.
June 12th- Jess, Ness, Becca, Brandon and I go to Old Tucson. We had a lot of fun. That evening, we were on the way to Pinnacle Peak when BOTH of our remaining cars broke down. Jess, Ness and I were stuck at Pinnacle Peak for a couple hours and the rest of our group was stuck along side the road for the same couple of hours.
June 13th- Becca and I drove Jess and Ness back to Phoenix Airport. I scratched my ankle on the airport shuttle and it started gushing blood all over my nice white sandals, (ant bite) and when I got back to the car, I got chocolate all over my hand from the door.We got lost in Phoenix for about 2 hours while Joanna was waiting for us in the mall parking lot. I learned how to make paragraphs on blogger. =)
June 14th- We started packing for our trip to Ohio for Family Camp.
June 15th- My car was finally repaired and it only cost $72.00!
June 16th- Zion and Jariah’s cars were both fixed. We needed to go pick Jariah’s up next time we went to Phoenix. My car broke down for the 2nd time in a week. =(
June 17th- I did laundry.
June 19th- Left for and landed safely back in Ohio.
June 23st-25th- Worked CHEO with mom and Jess. 80 mile an hour winds knocked down a bunch of trees in Ohio.
June 27th- Zion called from AZ and told me that my unity candle from our wedding fell down and was broken.
July 4th- First day of Family Camp. That whole week was unbelievably insane for reasons that I will not go into.
July 20th- Becca and I returned to Tucson.
August 3rd- I found out that Karen Kingbury(my favorite author) wrote a book about the same thing that I was planning for my book to be about.
August 4th- The guys were told that they had a job that they didn’t actually have. It was really just an interview.
August 9th- Becca and I went on a clothes shopping spree for Zion.
August 10th- Zion got hired at S.E.S. (Southwest Energy Solutions) it must have been the clothes...
August 17th- I saw my first real life cockroach. YUCK!
August 22nd- Jariah got hired at S.E.S., he was trained by Zion. Lol
September 4th- We attended our first ever rodeo, it got rained out, but it was fun while it lasted. We went to Pinnacle Peak for the 3rd time and this time no cars broke down and we had great service.
September 9th- We went to Sierra Vista and hung out with Sam and Christine.
September 10th- I had to coldest footwashing known to mankind.
September 18th- We finally got the bathroom sink working so we no longer had to brush our teeth and wash our hands in the kitchen!
September 27th- My 24th birthday.
September 30th- I taught Brandon the word, “cool!”
October 17th- I got my ticket to go home for Christmas.
October 21st- Zion and I celebrated our 6th anniversary.
October 22nd- The five of us went to Reid park for a picnic, then went to the zoo. It wasn’t nearly as disgusting this time.
October 24th- The five of us went to Mt. Lemon, hiked and had a picnic.
October 26th- We bought Jariah and Zion their tickets to go to Ohio for Christmas!!!
October 27th- Becca and I had our first ‘girls only’ +Brandon outing since Jess and Janessa were here. I invented “Snap-Dog-Job”.
November 8th- Zion and I went to a UofA game with Josh and Becca.
November 15th- Zion’s birthday.
November 23rd- Zion and I spent Thanksgiving with Danny, Joanna, Josh, Becca and all their kids. It was nice even though I missed my family a lot.
November 30th- I left for Ohio to spend 5 weeks with my family for Christmas, and to work at my mom’s store, Love and Learn. I had to repack my luggage in the airport because I had too many bags, it was insane.
December- The whole month was crazy! I worked at Love and Learn a lot, had a really bad cold, spent a lot of time with my family and of course, Christmas!
January 4th- Dad’s birthday and the day Becca, Brandon and I came back to AZ.
January 11th- Something was wrong with the plumbing in our hovel all day.
January 21st- It snowed in Tucson.
January 22nd- Zion let me order my Longaberger dishes!!!
February 7th- I received my Longaberger dishes, and proceded to break the first one I pulled out of the box.

March 3rd- We went to Old Tucson where Jariah dressed up and danced like a can-can girl. Brandon’s Birthday and party at Reid park.
March 4th- We all went to the Renisiance Festival near Phoenix, Jariah and I kept comparing it to the one we went to in Columbus and weren’t all that impressed.
March 5th- John, Becca, Brandon and I went to a baseball game. I almost caught a foul ball, and Brandon still thinks that he actually did. =)
March 6th- We went to another baseball game. After the game we went to Nogales, Mexico. It was… Interesting.

March 27th- I found my new little song and added it to my blog.
March 29th- I found out the painful way that no one cares about the answers to my quiz.
April 2nd- I was excited about doing dishes for the first time in 10 months. That joy quickly faded and I now hate doing them as much as I ever did.
April 4th- Zion took me shopping for an Easter dress but I couldn’t find anything without my personal shopper, Jess, along.
April 5th- Zion bought me a ticket to go back to Ohio for Family Camp in August!!!
April 8th- Easter Sunday.
April 12th- Sick again.
April 14- I missed my niece's 7th birthday. I have previously been at every one. =(
May 5th- Becca and I attended a National Scrapbook day and had a blast!
May 7th- I wrote a huge list of all the things that I have been up to for the past year.
There was of course more that I could have mentioned, but these are the highlights of the year. We have also had a couple of power outages here at the old hovel, numerous adorable anecdotes from Brandon, and a few more cockroach sightings, but you get the idea. =)
Actually, the other day, Saturday while Becca and I were off scrapbooking, there was apparently a lizard in our den. (The room I used to SLEEP in! Who knows how many times there was one crawling on my while I was sleeping. GRoSs!!!!) Thank goodness I wasn't here for that, it so would have freaked me out.
365 down... ??? to go.
I wonder if I can get a reduced sentence for good behaviour??!

Well, if your consider 12 little girls playing in the dirt "action packed"...
Well, if you consider "whining incessantly" good behavior...
;-)
I say YES! You should get to come home now. WHAT A TROOPER you've been! Enough is enough. Come on home and start your family! :)
I hate Sunday nights now. I miss all of you so much, especially on Sundays.
Almost every Sunday night Jariah and Becca and sweet baby Brandon would come visit us. I can't put into words how I feel when I think of each one of you, my heart aches. I think about Becca with her even-tempered bubbly little ways and I think I can't stand it not to have her around in our lives. It's the same with each one of you.
I want more than anything for you all to be happy, I always have. I just HOPE that someday you can all be happy around here where we can all be happy together.
Zion's family can all come too! And I would love it if Lydia could live next door and all of Becca's family. We've got 20 acres, maybe we could fill it with condos for everyone! Get Israel out here so we can keep him in line! It would be great!

Wow, Shan! What a year! Sounds like it was pretty eventful! I don't know if in this case good behaviour is going to get you here any sooner. Zion might start thinking that you actually like it there. I would recommend a few tantrums now and then just to be safe! ;) hehe
Well, I'm really glad you started this blog and kept track of everything...otherwise we might not have remembered exactly how crazy this last year has been!!!
I'm really hoping the next 2 years we live in Arizona will not be this nuts!:o)
Oh, the stories we'll have to tell our grandchildren. haha
No problem there, Sarah, I'm an old pro... didn't you see John's comment?! lol
You can look at it this way, Shan. If you guys had never moved to Tucson, I would never have gone there on spring break. And if I had not gone to Tucson on spring break, I might have lost my mind and never made it through first year. So you guys HAD to move to Tucson, if for no other reason than to give me a place to clear my head for a few days.
So thanks.
If that's the reason, you owe me so big!! haha But I actually think it was so our husbands would finally finish school.
Well, I think the main reason we moved out here is so we would be more thankful for the things we have or had...
We didn't know it at the time, but I think we are a lot more grateful now.
A decent neighborhood, a house of our own, as small or annoying as it is... we apreciate that kind of stuff a lot more than we did when we lived in Ohio!
Or look at it this way, you went to Tucson so the guys could find good jobs...
Mission Accomplished!
Aren't they getting a big raise this month?
I'm sure those jobs are gotta be fine in the long run... but as much as we are thankful for the raise, even after it comes we will still be 3 dollars an hour away from what we were making in Ohio.
The only reason the jobs are very good is because they will pay for the guys' schooling.
